Dominic Valdes, LCSW, CSAT
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Certified Sex Addiction Therapist
My warmest welcome to you,
I want to share with you a bit about why I have entered this work and share a small bit of my personal story to help you get to know me a little more- I think choosing a therapist is the most important step in this process.
The purpose of sharing my personal and profession story with you is to offer transparency and honesty with you in your journey in seeking a therapist. I hope you find the outline below informative and helpful to you- I am here for any questions you may have. I look forward to being of support and guidance to you.
As a gay, Hispanic boy growing up in Bakersfield, CA - life was, needless to say, difficult. On top of this, I turned to substance abuse, was exposed to family violence, and impacted by the devastating effects of family substance abuse. Gay, Hispanic, Trauma, and Substance-Abusing...I truly believed the cards were stacked against me.
I entered treatment, therapy, and group therapy where I found myself, my strengths, and began my life journey to help others. In 2008 I began my first counseling experience helping children and LGBTQ Teens with family violence, bullying, and self-esteem issues. I conducted research on Teen Pregnancy in the Foster Care System and this was published by 2010. I began providing psychotherapy for those struggling with trauma and addiction in 2010. In 2014 I began working at a Treatment Center in Malibu, CA and in 2016 became trained in EMDR. I am currently a consultant and primary therapist for a mental health and substance abuse treatment center in Los Angles, co-founder of Life and Sex Therapy Center, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and LGBTQ Affirmative Therapist.
I am here to support you on your journey and am here for any questions your have.
